Marfa Stance Notting Hill Female Founders Guide

Our Ledbury Road doors have officially been open for just over two months, time has flied and as imagined, has been nothing short of amazing. We have absolutely loved welcoming both new and existing members of our community from all over the world through our flagship door, and of course always being on hand to help you create, update and renew your pieces!

Likewise, the surrounding community have welcomed us with open arms, and as a team we have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting with locals, learning more about the iconic area.

We have enlisted the expert help of local female founders - whose shops are all within a short walk from the Marfa Stance store and all most definitely worth a visit- to help build our Notting Hill guide and add to the ever-growing list of the best spots around, from the true insiders themselves.

1. Carole Bamford, Daylesford

2. Tiffany Duggan, Trove

3. Teresa Tarmey, Teresa Tarmey

4. Penelope Chilvers and daughter Gemma Chilvers, Penelope Chilvers

5. Nathalie Schyllert, Bodyism

6. Jess Collett, Jess Collett Milliner

7. Celia Munoz, La Coqueta

8. Clare Richardson, Reluxe Fashion

Visit Marfa Stance Ledbury Road

Rellik, 8 Golbourne Road

My style is eclectic and I think Rellik’s curation of second-hand designer pieces is among the best in London. I love that you never know what you might find – most recently for me, the most beautiful vintage Ossie Clarke dress.

Dorian, 107 Talbot Road

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful evening here with friends recently. Max Coen is a very talented young chef and it was a privilege to see him run this high-speed open kitchen with such quiet confidence. I think it’s the best steak I’ve had in London.

Katharine Pole, showroom by appointment

Katharine is one of the most knowledgeable antique textile dealers in the UK, with an unrivalled collection of rare European fabrics. It has been a joy to work together on a number of special projects over the years, from interiors at home to those in my Cotswold pubs and inspiration for Bamford’s womenswear collections.

Sally Clarke – 124 Kensington Church Street

I have long admired Sally’s loving, simple and seasonal approach to food - and it is amazing to think that her restaurant will celebrate its 40th anniversary later this year. You can’t beat her classic chicken, mushroom and leek pie for a quick and delicious supper.

Michael Hoppen Gallery, 10 Portland Road

I love browsing the collection of Sarah Moon photographs – a beautiful yet abstract vignette into fashion and style during the 70’s.

Gold, 95-97 Portobello Rd

I love Gold in Notting Hill which is right around the corner from our Studio – also nearby is Tonkotsu who do the best ramen and is perfect for a quick mid-week bite.

Le Choux, 332 Ladbroke Grove

Le Choux in Notting Hill for the lightest, sweetest profiteroles and Golborne Deli (which is luckily directly opposite the Trove shop) for the best Flat White in town.

The Cow, 89 Westbourne Park Rd

I love the Seafood Platter for sharing with friends by the bar.

Reluxe, 40 Golborne Rd

Reluxe is not only my favourite shopping site, it’s also a platform where I can sell my own stuff that I don’t wear anymore. I’m so happy they now have a store front close to my home and work on Golborne Road. I’m a big fan of pre loved, not only for clothes but also furniture

Pippa Small, 201 Westbourne Grove

Pippa is an old friend who has inspired me along the way, with her mission to find ways to create jewellery with consideration for the environmental impact and the livelihoods of the artists around the world. I love the way she celebrates creativity and promotes everyone she works with in the most transparent way.

London Vintage by Sarah Horrillo

A vintage stand in the covered market on Saturdays on Portobello Road. Sarah always has the best pieces! She’s my first port of call when styling our campaign shoots and I can never resist keeping a few pieces for myself. She has beautiful clothes from so many different eras. I think half my wardrobe may be from her!

Fabrique, 212 Portobello Rd

Fabrique is a Swedish bakery that offers a taste of Scandinavian baking at its finest. Their cinnamon and cardamom buns are my particular favourites and they remind me of home. The rustic interior, with its exposed brick walls and wooden furnishings, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying a coffee and a treat. Fabrique is a hidden gem worth discovering.

Electric Cinema, 191 Portobello Rd

One of the oldest working cinemas in the UK, the Electric Cinema on Portobello Road offers a luxurious movie-going experience. With its cosy leather armchairs, footstools, and cashmere blankets, it's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a film in style. The charming, vintage decor adds to its unique charm, this is where I went on my first date with my husband many years ago. We now bring the kids there for Kids movies on the weekends. A tip, Saturday morning movies are free for Soho House members.

Replace, Notting Hill

If my body is sore after attending daily Bodyism classes or PT sessions I often go to Replace to recover. There they have Body Rollers that can help to improve lymphatic drainage, flexibility and overall wellness.

All Saints Road, Notting Hill

All Saints Road is a gem of a road with so much history and used be referred to as ‘The Front Line’. Now it has a collection of wonderful cafes, a gourmet Pizzeria, a Michelin star Indian and the destination pub, de The Pelican.

You can get yourself a couture dress and a hat for any occasion (from me!), jewellery and all manor of fabulous things from the Jackson’s boutique.

We boast upholsters, curtain & cabinet makers, a guitar shop and even a reggae record shop.

And just a stone’s throw from Ledbury Road. What more could you want !?

Lacy Gallery, 203 Westbourne Grove

The Lacy Gallery is iconic for retaining an air of old glamour in the Westbourne Park area of London which La Coqueta also calls home. The art of traditional artisan craft while also being relevant and modern is something that we're also proud to share with them.

It's Bagels, 120 Kensington Park Rd

So proud of what my partner, Dan, is building with It’s Bagels. New York is special to both of us, and it is amazing to have a taste of what we built and experienced in NYC brought to life through, food and community with the two locations. Building our businesses simultaneously has been both challenging and inspiring, we definitely don't do things by halves - so excited for what’s to come and if you are able to visit be sure to get the egg, bacon & cheese, it's a classic!
